THANK YOU!!

We’d like to send a very sincere thank you to everyone in the Chain Gang that helped make the Macon race weekend a success by generously serving as a volunteer, by racing in an event, by coming out to show your support, or by donning a podium girl dress.  Having the entire Macon cycling community involved resulted in a flawless first attempt and a great showcasing of Macon to cyclists all over the state.  We’d love to see this great inaugural race grow into a yearly event.  Thanks again.  We’ll see you on the road.

Volunteer Race Course Marshals

Dear Fellow Cyclists,

As you know, the Georgia Cup race series will make a stop in Macon, GA on June 13-14, 2009.  This exciting two-day event will give us an opportunity to showcase our sport in the Macon community.  In order to host a successful event, we need help marshaling the race courses. Marshals are responsible for automobile traffic control, pedestrian traffic control, and race directional support during the races and on the courses.

On Saturday June 13th, we will need 20 volunteers from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. for the downtown events.  We will provide a centralized meeting point for all volunteers and will give instructions and assignments at that location.  Food and beverages will be provided for volunteers.  We request that volunteers assist for a minimum of 3 hours on Saturday and remain evenly spread throughout all shifts.  The shifts will run as follows:

  1. 8 a.m. –11 a.m.
  2. 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  3. 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  4. 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

On Sunday June 14th, we will need at least 20 volunteers from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for the road race event that will originate from the Geico parking area in East Macon, GA.  The nature of this event will require volunteers to work the entire event from start to finish.

We greatly appreciate any assistance that you will provide.  If you will help us, please contact me at 478-951-2341 or by email at todd.wilson@martinmarietta.com.

Sincerely,

Todd Wilson

Social Outing at Ingleside Village Pizza

This is not meant to take the place of a Chain Gang-specific social outing, but I’d like to invite you all to Yappy Hour at Ingleside Village Pizza on Saturday, May 30th at 3:00 P.M. Tina at IVP is being very gracious to let my greyhound club (Southeastern Greyhound Adoption) bring our greyhounds to the beer garden. We’re also going to have a beer tasting: 5 beer samples from 5 continents for $5! Proceeds will go to greyhound adoption.

Please let me know if you plan to come. (I need to give IVP a headcount beforehand.) Bicycling in the morning and pizza, beer, and greyhounds in the afternoon – sounds like a perfect day to me!
